Optimization of an innovative system based on nanomagnetic particle separation and fluorescence detection for the diagnosis of grapevine phytoplasmas and viruses

Main goals of the project are design, production, characterization and functionalization through organic and inorganic coatings of magnetic nanoparticles with different chemical compositions as well as size and to use these newly produced particles as tools for innovative diagnosis of plant pathogens. The diagnosis will be based on the specific magnetic purification of nucleic acids to develop a fast and reliable identification of the pathogen through a fluorescent signal. The project is in cooperation with Cyanine Technolgies, CORI S.r.l., Istituto Nazionale di Ricerca Metrologica (INRIM).
