Marta Vallino

I work with microscopic techniques for the study and diagnosis of plant viruses and phytoplasms. My scientific activity is based on the use of transmission electron microscopy, confocal microscopy, laser microdissection on plant and insect tissues. Moreover, I am involved in scientific divulgation.

I obtained University degree in Biological Science in 1999 and PhD degree in 2003. I have been holder of scholarship grants and postDoc positions from 2003 to 2009 at University of Torino, University of Piemonte Orientale, Council for Research in Agriculture of Vercelli.

In the past, my scientific interests concerned mycorrhizal fungi and the study of their biodiversity and interaction with heavy metals. Afterwards, I worked with rice both on its interaction with soil fungi and on breeding using non conventional methods. I have been using techniques of molecular and cellular biology, microbiology, biochemistry and microscopy. From 2007 to 2011 I have been CEO of an Academic Spin-off.
